Kuan Ti Temple
Founded in 1887 (or 1888) by the Kwong Siew Association, the temple was established by immigrants from the Guangdong province. It is dedicated to Guan Yu (Guan Di), a historical general from the Three Kingdoms period who was deified as the God of War, Literature, and Righteousness. In the early days of Kuala Lumpur, the temple served as more than a place of worship; it was a vital community forum where the Kwong Siew community met to resolve disputes and seek justice, given Guan Di's status as the patron of integrity and fair play. Today, it remains a cornerstone of the city's heritage, where modern merchants, police officers, and students continue to offer prayers for protection and success.
