Bukit Keteri
Bukit Keteri is legendary in the international outdoor community as one of the most challenging rock-climbing destinations in Asia. It gained global fame when world-renowned climbers, including the late David Lama, established high-difficulty routes on its sheer limestone faces. The hill is part of the Chuping Formation, dating back over 250 million years to the Permian era. Beyond its athletic appeal, the hill is culturally significant to the local community. It houses a large, cathedral-like cave system known as Gua Kerbau (Buffalo Cave), which was historically used by locals for shelter and saltpeter collection. Local folklore often speaks of the hill being the "protector" of the surrounding rice farmers, serving as a landmark that has guided generations of Perlis residents.
