Originally planned as a traditional park, the arboretum has been expanded into a unique botanical treasure thanks to the commitment of renowned experts. Located directly on the lake, the land is extensively used as a playground and sunbathing area in the summer. It opened in 1887 as a central part of Zurich's waterfront, aiming to preserve biodiversity, improve the urban climate, making it more pleasant and offering a higher quality of stay in the park, and uniting science and beauty. This means that all the trees in the park were arranged according to geographical, systematic, or historical criteria, forming a true tree ensemble, an arboretum.

To preserve the original diversity, two groups of trees that had completely disappeared were replanted in 2025, in accordance with historical plans.

Localizado diretamente no lago, o terreno é intensamente utilizado como parque infantil e zona para banhos de sol no verão. Foi inaugurado em 1887 como parte central do cais de Zurique, tendo como objetivo preservar a biodiversidade, melhorar o clima urbano, tornando-o mais agradável e de uma maior qualidade de estadia no parque e unir a ciência e a beleza. Isto significa que todas as árvores do parque foram dispostas de acordo com critérios geográficos, sistemáticos ou históricos, formando um verdadeiro conjunto de árvores, um arboreto.

Para preservar a diversidade original, dois grupos de árvores que tinham desaparecido por completo foram replantados em 2025, de acordo com os planos históricos.
