St. Moritz Lake 5
Grisons

Lake St. Moritz is located in the Upper Engadine, in the Swiss canton of Graubünden, at 1,768 m above sea level in St. Moritz, Switzerland. With a surface area of 0.78 km², 1.6 km long and 600 meters wide, and a 4.8 km circular trail, it is a charming basin, despite being the smallest of the four lakes in a picturesque valley, the Upper Engadine valley.

Green slopes dominate the placid waters. Running along the lakeside trail in the morning, while the mist rises from the water, is magical! In winter, the lake waters freeze, and it is there that the Snow Polo World Cup takes place annually in late January/early February, with a natural setting of exceptional beauty. Since 1985, St. Moritz has become the world capital of snow polo. It's an incredible spectacle. Teams from all over the world come here for the coveted Cartier Trophy, held on the frozen waters of Lake St. Moritz.

It is worth noting that the Inn River, which originates in the Piz Lunghin mountain north of the Maloja pass, first feeds two lakes highly appreciated by sailors and kitesurfers, the Sils and Silvaplana lakes, and then the Inn flows through Lake St. Moritz. The Inn is an important river in the Alps that flows through Switzerland, Austria, and Germany, emptying into the Danube at Passau.

The picturesque and luxurious resort of St. Moritz sits on the shores of the lake and has hosted the Winter Olympic Games twice. St. Moritz combines art, culture, shopping, and many events. Its most striking feature: variety. This sunny place with its alpine setting, glamour, and outdoor activities amidst the natural beauty of Engadine.

M. in St. Moritz, Schweiz.

Encostas verdes dominam as águas plácidas.
