The source of the river is located 1 km northeast of the village of Järve and 3.3 km northwest of the Kukruse manor. It flows through the northeastern edge of Jõhvi. Over the last 4 km, the river meanders sharply through a deep valley with steep slopes and picturesque limestone banks, enhancing the beauty of Toila-Oru Park. The river flows into the Gulf of Narva at the park.
