The PD Waterfront is part of a major urban regeneration project aimed at transforming the old Port Dickson town center into a world-class tourism hub. Historically, this area was known as Arang (meaning charcoal) because of a nearby coal mine.
Originally a small Malay fishing village, it was developed by the British in the late 19th century as a deep-sea port for the lucrative tin ore trade. After the tin trade declined, the town pivoted toward tourism in the 1990s. Today, the Waterfront stands as a symbol of Port Dickson's modernization, successfully blending its heritage as a trading post with a dynamic lifestyle enclave that hosts international events like powerboat challenges.
