Plaza del Obispo (Bishop's Square) offers a view of Malaga Cathedral’s main facade with impressive columns and marble statues of St Ciriaco and St Paula, the city's patron saints.
Formally, the Nuestra Señora de la Encarnación (Our Lady of Incarnation), the catherdral was built on the site of a demolished mosque. Construction began in 1528. Building work stopped in 1782 without the completion of a second tower, hence it is known locally as ‘La Manquita’ or the ‘one-armed lady’.
