Persgletscher in winter transforms into a vast snowy expanse where the boundary between ice and sky almost disappears. A thick layer of snow smooths the terrain, hiding crevasses and icefalls beneath an even white surface. On clear days, the glacier glows in the cold alpine sunlight, while the surrounding Bernina peaks stand out sharply against the deep blue sky. During this season, Persgletscher attracts ski tourers and mountaineers approaching from the Diavolezza area. However, crevasses remain concealed beneath the snow, making travel potentially dangerous and requiring proper experience and equipment. In winter, the glacier conveys a sense of calm, grandeur, and untouched alpine wilderness.
