Horton Tower, Dorset
England

Horton Tower is a folly located on a Dorset hillside. At 43 metres high, it was once reputed to have been tallest non-religious building in Britain. It was built around 1750 by Humphrey Sturt, Lord of Horton Manor, who also happened to be an architect and local MP.

Its purpose is unknown but it is suggested that it could have been intended as an observatory or as a vantage point for observing hunting in the surrounding countryside. The largely derelict Grade II listed building now serves as platform for mobile phone signal masts.
