A 50' aerial view from the Hirz Mountain fire lookout overlooking Lake Shasta, California. Here one can see the McCloud Arm of the lake leading up towards distant Mt. Shasta. Prominent limestone deposits abound w/ great views also towards Lassen Peak & the Trinity Alps. The location has been a lookout site since 1909 but the steel lookout was installed in 1949. The elevation here is at 3,540 feet - the true summit of Hirz Mountain is just to the west at 3,620 feet.
