The Physical-Meteorological Observatory in Davos/World Radiation Centre (PMOD/WRC), founded by Carl Dorno in 1907, has the mission of studying the influence of solar radiation on the Earth's climate.

It acts as an international calibration center for meteorological radiation instruments. It develops radiation instruments for both ground and space use.

The PMOD/WRC develops and builds radiometers that are among the most accurate in the world, used both on the ground and in space. These instruments are also available for purchase and have long been used by Meteorological Services around the world. In addition, a global network of atmospheric turbidity monitoring stations is equipped with precision filter radiometers developed by the PMOD/WRC.

The sun is the most important influencing factor on the Earth's climate. In order to investigate the effects of fluctuations in solar radiation on climate variability, the measurements taken must be of the highest precision.

The research institute is located at the entrance to Davos Dorf, Canton of Graubunden in Switzerland. Around 40 people work at the facility. There is active cooperation with international research partners and universities in climate research.

Atua como centro internacional de calibração para instrumentos de radiação meteorológica. Desenvolve instrumentos de radiação para uso terrestre e espacial.

O PMOD/WRC desenvolve e constrói radiómetros que estão entre os mais precisos do mundo, utilizados tanto em terra como no espaço. Estes instrumentos também estão disponíveis para compra e são utilizados há muito tempo pelos Serviços Meteorológicos em todo o mundo. Além disso, uma rede global de estações de monitorização da turbidez atmosférica está equipada com radiómetros de filtro de precisão desenvolvidos pelo PMOD/WRC.

O Sol é o fator de influência mais importante no clima da Terra. Para pesquisar os efeitos das flutuações da radiação solar na variabilidade climática, as medições realizadas devem ser da mais alta precisão.

O instituto de investigação está localizado à entrada de Davos Dorf, Cantão do Graubunden na Suíça. Cerca de 40 pessoas trabalham nas instalações. Há Cooperação ativa com parceiros de investigação internacionais e universidades em investigação climática.
