Founded in 1987 by the creative duo Aza Osman (an oil painter) and Roshadah Yusof (a renowned batik artist), Atma Alam was born from a vision to preserve the ancient art of batik in Langkawi. What started as a small studio has grown into a world-class "Art Village" endorsed by the Malaysian Ministry of Culture.
The village is more than a shop; it is the birthplace of batik art on the island. Every piece here tells a story of meticulous craftsmanship, where wax and dyes are applied by hand to transform plain cloth into wearable masterpieces. It remains a family-run legacy where visitors are encouraged to "go with the flow" and try their hand at the craft in on-site workshops.
