Ar-Rahman Mosque Mukim Pulau Gajah
Malaysia
Masjid Ar-Rahman, often referred to as the "Wooden Mosque of Pulau Gajah," is one of the most beautiful modern-traditional mosques in Malaysia. Completed around 2018, it was commissioned by a local philanthropist who wished to provide a unique place of worship for the community of Mukim Pulau Gajah. The mosque is celebrated for its incredible attention to No-Nail Construction, much of the main wooden structure was built using traditional joinery techniques, minimizing the use of industrial nails. Cultural Fusion while the silhouette is deeply rooted in Malay-Indonesian (Nusantara) design, the interior and carvings incorporate aesthetic influences from Morocco and Turkey. Symbolism the wood used—primarily Cengal—was chosen for its durability and symbolic strength, representing the lasting nature of faith. Since its opening, it has become a major landmark for "religious tourism" in Kelantan, attracting visitors who come to admire the intersection of high-end wood artistry and spiritual devotion.
