Afterthought Mine ruins (aerial)
California

A 200' aerial view overlooking the Afterthought Mine alongside Highway 299 northeast of Bella Vista, California.  The mine was active from 1862 to 1952 & produced gold, silver, lead, copper, & zinc.  A number of building ruins can be seen.  On September 5, 2024, the area was approved as a federal superfund site due to contaminents leaking into Little Cow Creek, such as the visible orange acid mine drainage.
