The Wendelstein is a 1838 m high mountain in the Bavarian Alps, Germany. The mountain can be reached by the Wendelsteinbahn cable car and the Wendelstein cog railway, making it a popular destination for tourists and nature lovers. This image has been taken on the viewing platform, about 100 meters below the summit.
The summit of the mountain is home to a 55-meter-high transmission mast and an observatory belonging to the University of Munich. The observatory has a modern 2-meter reflecting telescope and a coronagraph for solar observations.
