The railway has operated since 1970. It had been built on an old railway which had been used between 1896 and 1932. Some parts of machinery ( 7 waggons and a snow-plough inclusive) has been delivered from Switzerland. Today´s railway line is 4,8 km long and the gauge is 1 meter. If you have enough power you can climb the route as well. Set off from the station „Strba“ via Strbske pleso and you can continue to the Solisko chalet or to the Furkotska dell.
