Eingang zum Felsental von Hasankeyf und Treppe zur Zitadelle mit dem alten Tor. Gegründet von den Römern, lag der Ort an der persischen Grenze. Zu byzantininscher Zeit war dies sogar ein Bischofssitz, der 640 von den Arabern erobert wurde. 1260 wurde die Ansiedlung von den Mongolen geplündert und hat danach nie wieder ihre alte Bedeutung erreichen können.
