Oldenburg Kaiserteich
Germany

The Kaiserteich is a man-made pond in Oldenburg's city center. It is located in close proximity to the more popular Dobbenteich and, together with it, forms a popular green oasis in the heart of the city. The two bodies of water are often referred to collectively as the "Dobbenteiche." Here are some interesting facts about the Oldenburg Kaiserteich: Location: The Kaiserteich is located in Oldenburg's Dobbenviertel district, a popular residential area close to the city center, known for its Wilhelminian-era buildings. Use: Like the neighboring Dobbenteich, the Kaiserteich primarily serves as a recreational area. Its banks invite you to stroll and linger. Especially in good weather, it is a popular meeting place, especially for young people. Nature: Despite its central location, the Kaiserteich provides a habitat for various animal and plant species. The trees surrounding the pond contribute to the calming atmosphere. Fishing: The Kaiserteich is managed by the Oldenburg Sport Fishing Association and is a popular fishing spot, especially for pike and carp. Fishing licenses are available. Connection to the Dobbenteich: The Kaiserteich is directly connected to the Dobbenteich, making it easy to walk around both bodies of water. Origin of the name: The name "Kaiserteich" suggests its origin or special significance during the Imperial era (1871-1918). However, more precise information on the naming is not easy to find. It is possible that the name is related to Kaiser Wilhelm, as was common with other "Kaiser" names in the German Empire. In summary, the Kaiserteich in Oldenburg is an important part of the urban green space and plays a role both in civic recreation and in nature conservation. Its proximity to the Dobbenteich makes it an attractive destination for walks and leisure activities in Oldenburg's city center.

More About Germany

Germany? Before the beginning there was Ginnungagap, an empty space of nothingness, filled with pure creative power. (Sort of like the inside of my head.)And it ends with Ragnarok, the twilight of the Gods. In between is much fighting, betrayal and romance. Just as a good Godly story should be.Heroes have their own graveyard called Valhalla. Unfortunately we cannot show you a panorama of it at this time, nor of the lovely Valkyries who are its escort service.Hail Odin, wandering God wielding wisdom and wand! Hail Freya, hail Tyr, hail Thor!Odin made the many lakes and the fish in them. In his traverses across the lands he caused there to be the Mulheim Bridge in Cologne, as did he make the Mercury fountain, Mercury being of his nature. But it is to the mighty Thor that the Hammering Man gives service.Between the time of the Nordic old ones and that of modern Frankfort there may have been a T.Rex or two on the scene. At least some mastodons for sure came through for lunch, then fell into tar pits to become fossils for us to find. And there we must leave you, O my most pure and holy children.Text by Steve Smith.
