Calingford Castle and Old Boat
UK

Carlingford Castle, also known as King John’s Castle, stands tall on a rocky outcrop overlooking Carlingford Lough, a silent witness to centuries of history. Its weathered stone walls tell stories of Norman conquest and medieval power. Below, on the quiet pier, an old wooden boat rests, its faded hull cracked by time and tide. Once vital to coastal life, it now leans gently with the lough’s rhythm, surrounded by seaweed and gull calls. The castle and the boat together form a striking contrast—stone and timber, fortification and fishing—both shaped by the enduring presence of the sea and the passage of time.
